Three decades in Dargan for McCaig Collim

One of the first tenants in Dargan Crescent, this highly respected distributor for the heating, pipeline, insulation and ventilation industries moved to what was Belfast’s new enterprise zone in 1986 after outgrowing its original premises at Greenwood Avenue in Belfast.

The company moved to Dargan Crescent on a tide of optimism. Over the next three decades, McCaig Collim has faced many challenges and changes.

However, the central themes of quality products and competitive prices have remained in place and are very much seen as a legacy of the company’s founders.

Company founder, Bob Collim’s son Neil, is the Managing Director and he is proud of the fact that McCaig Collim’s original principles remain very much intact.

“My father and the other company founder, Norman McCaig, both had a very specific way of doing business and that was based on building strong relationships with customers alongside a great service,” he explained. “High quality products sold at competitive prices is key to this and it is something that remains central to everything that we do.

“The industry has changed massively since we moved into Dargan but by keeping to those principals we have been able to meet challenges head on.”

The proof of this can be easily quantified, with McCaig Collim’s Dargan Crescent facilities a hive of activity, with the company’s own fleet constantly revolving in and out of the service yard alongside many of its loyal customers.
