Seeking an efficient, renewable energy solution for its heating needs at a new-build branch in Cookstown, Credit Union settled on two Warmflow Zeno air-source heat pumps from Warmflow Engineering Co Ltd.
Completed in mid-July, the project features around 6,000sqft over three floors including reception space, cashiers and office space on the ground floor, further offices on the middle floor and a board room on the top level.
Steel framed and block built with a flat roof, the property is extensively glazed and heated by an underfloor system.
Powered by Warmflow Zeno heat pumps, the system incorporates a Warmflow Nero BT200 Buffer Tank and a two-stage controller to balance the working hours on both units.
Environmental and practical considerations were behind the selection of the pump as the heating solution for the project, said Shane O’Gara, Company Director at main contractor O’Gara Contracts Ltd.

“The Credit Union wanted to use renewable energy to heat the property,” he said, “but also, there was no real room for an oil tank or burners.”
BMC Mechanical, a Magherafelt-based specialist in plumbing, heating and renewables, was sub-contracted to install the heat pumps.
Warmflow emerged as the supplier of choice for BMC, largely driven by its speed of service and exceptional back-up services.
Mark Mallon, Plumbing and Heating Engineer with BMC Mechanical, said, “We did look at other options, but the lead-in times were too long.
Warmflow went above and beyond to supply the heat pumps so the job could be completed in time.”
Warmflow assisted in the specification process for BMC Mechanical for the installation, they were quick to answer any queries, and came on site to commission the heat pump.
The installation proved straightforward with the heat pump already running efficiently, and its performance monitored via Warmflow’s Warmlink smart connectivity accessible by both installer and Warmflow.
