The sky is the limit

Kerrigan Mechanical specialises in the supply and installation of commercial heating, plumbing, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Founded in 1998, the business has skyrocketed in the past six years and developed to become one of Ireland’s leading district heating specialist installers. Sales in 2022 were up 56% and 2023 has continued that trend, with a year-on-year growth of 25% – a great milestone to achieve on its 25th anniversary.

The occasion was celebrated at the prestigious Killeen Castle, in Dunsany, Co. Meath, and staff, clients, suppliers, sub-contractors and their families enjoyed a fun day of golf, archery, clay pigeon shooting and other activities.

FROM MEDIUM TO LARGE CONTRACTOR

Kerrigan Mechanical is now proud to be among the big players in the industry.

“A few years ago, it became obvious to our Managing Director Ronan Kerrigan that there was a niche in the market for a specialist heating and plumbing installer focusing on high density apartments and multi-residential housing developments,” Aiden Likely explained.

“We have filled that niche effectively and this led to more business and further approach from large scale developers.” The company has been carrying out installations of higher value and more extreme complexity and intensity than ever before. It has also made a significant investment in IT to improve processes and promote faster communication, scheduling, and monitoring.

“A strongly controlled and well-informed, communicative, and open set of processes has been implemented to assist the company to grow and prosper while bettering the experience for all team members,” the Commercial Director commented. The expansion also required rethinking the management team.

“Ronan Kerrigan had the foresight to realise that the key to successful growth of the business was to supplement and strengthen the management team,” commented Contracts Manager Adam Dent. “He has successfully brought in experienced and highly skilled individuals and that enabled us to implement a successful and controlled expansion plan.”

RISING TO THE TOP

In the short term, Kerrigan Mechanical expects to continue to grow organically, and for their turnover to become established in mid-eight figure-levels within the next five years.

“The sector is experiencing a period of demand and we intend to be at the forefront of meeting it,” Aiden said. According to the Commercial Director, the ethos of the original family-run business remains at the company’s heart: quality installations mean repeat opportunities and ongoing strong relationships. “This has led us to a successful business, and we will adhere to this approach as we continue to grow.”
