C&F Quadrant completes Nightingale ward boiler package

Two-phased boiler installation at Whiteabbey Hospital ends successfully...

C&F Quadrant has successfully delivered the boiler package for the second phase plant room installation at NHS Nightingale facilities at Whiteabbey Hospital in Co Antrim.

The package, installed by contractor BG McGrath Plumbing and Heating, included 3 x 420kW Nesta Floor-Standing Boilers from AIC, a Calio 65-120 loop pump and FP ECO+ dt5 Digital twin pump press unit from KSB and a Reflex Freestanding Expansion Vessel from Altecnic.

Gavin McKay, Sales Executive at C&F Quadrant says, “We suggested the AIC Nesta boiler for its reliability, efficiency and compact space-saving design and also because it can cascade through a high kW output.”

The extended range of Nesta boilers are specifically designed for commercial and industrial applications. Based on the tried and tested ‘fire-tube’ design heat exchanger, the range of floor-standing condensing boilers are now up to 840kW outputs. The stainless steel heat exchanger provides maximum heat extraction with minimum size. Its corrosion-resistant surface ensures uninterrupted condensing efficiency, low maintenance costs and product longevity. For added assurance, the boiler comes with a five-year warranty, and a ten-year warranty for the heat exchanger, both subject to terms and conditions.

The Calio 65-120 loop pump is a highly efficient, maintenance-free wet rotor pump (glandless). The KSB FP ECO+ dt5 Digital is a pressurisation unit fitted with an electronic control module that offers pump auto change-over, remote on-off, two assignable volt- free contacts and leak detection function. The Reflex Expansion Vessel is nitrogen-filled, which will improve the vessel’s lifespan by reducing corrosion inside the vessel and prevents loss of pre-charge pressure. The new ward provides a second Nightingale facility in Northern Ireland. This step-down facility includes 100 intermediate care beds. The region previously had a Nightingale facility opened at Belfast City Hospital for coronavirus patients.

With the project now complete, C&F Quadrant is proud to have been involved in aiding the NHS during the pandemic, said Gavin. “We are delighted to be involved in such an important installation, which, as always, is backed up with our after-sales service.

Obviously, for a hospital site like the Nightingale facility it is vitally important they can rely on a fast back-up and after-sales service.

He added, “Being local, we can provide the fastest response and we have the added benefits of having in-house engineers and a full stock of spares.”
