SONAS Bathrooms has welcomed over 200 retailer customers into SONAS HQ for their retailer training workshops with Robert McKernan since 2018. As a result of COVID and the subsequent restrictions on travel, SONAS decided take these events online.

The aim of the workshop is to provide SONAS retailers with the skills to increase sales, improve their bathroom product knowledge and provide them with industry insights and the latest market trends.

Richard Sloan, Managing Director at SONAS Bathrooms, commented “We want to give all of our retailers a way to learn more about our products. Having this in-depth knowledge gives the end-user more confidence and comfort in the salesperson and product.”

Retailers receive an overview on the company, visit to the Product Testing Area with a detailed look at the features and benefits of SONAS products with Gavin McGarry, Customer Service Technical Support for SONAS. Ita O’Brien, Product Buyer for SONAS, presents on product concept, design, manufacturing, and also touches on the latest trends. Throughout the day, retailers hear from various interior designers who share insights and design tips the retailers can then pass on to the end-user.

SONAS has enlisted the help of Robert McKernan to deliver the sales training aspect of the workshops. Robert has delivered sales training to companies all over the word and has trained over 7,500 sales professionals over the last 17 years. Robert was awarded the Best Sales Training Programme for Sony Ireland, by Irish Training Institute. In 2016 Robert was awarded Most Successful External Trainer by SAP in their world -wide virtual training. Robert has extensive experience working and delivering training across the Irish hardware and retail landscape.

Richard Sloan continued, “Having Robert onboard with our workshops gives the retailers the opportunity to develop new selling techniques that will help increase sales.”

SONAS have received positive feedback since launching their workshops online, one retailer said “The technical insight was brilliant. I enjoyed the insight to the purchasing process too. Surprising to learn that much more goes into the process.”

Another retailer mentioned that SONAS “Managed to keep people focused with the use of Polls and chat to keep us interacting. The use of guest speakers from a different angle was interesting, changed the perspective of how people are using the products and what they like and how to apply this to a buying customer. Learnt things without even knowing I was being taught, very enjoyable. Had a good giggle too. Much needed when the current climate in the bathroom world is very tense.”

SONAS has hosted two virtual workshops this year and hopes to have their retailers back, in-person, at SONAS Bathrooms HQ in 2021.
